NV Koppitsch Perspektive Weiss

Around 200 cases made, depending on the vintage. Fragile and graceful but vibrant and alive — bright fruit,  and a saline limestone precision that Alex Koppitsch calls "pure and radiant" .The NV Koppitsch "Perspektive Weiss" is certified biodynamic 50/50 Weissburgunder and Chardonnay from the Neuberg — one of the oldest vineyard sites in the Neusiedl area, a rocky limestone hill in the Leitha Mountains above Lake Neusiedl, 60-year-old Chardonnay and 20-year-old Pinot Blanc co-fermented, direct-pressed, spontaneous fermentation in acacia barrel, 10 months on gross lees, bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulfur. The "Perspektive" line is Alex and Maria Koppitsch's meditation on terroir — each wine named for the rock type that defines it — a concept borrowed from Burgundy's obsession with geology and applied to a corner of Burgenland most people haven't discovered yet.
