Small is beautiful.
Our Philosophy
It's simple (but not): provide a thoughtful space offering delicious wine made by soulful growers.
soulful growers
we support
We are dedicated to supporting the small, soulful grower, the mom and pop operation, the multigenerational family estate, the forward-thinker, the traditionalists and the contrarians.
The growers we represent (Emily Campeau – one half of Wein Goutte, pictured) make singular and meaningful wines. Generally speaking, they tend to take great care of their plot of land, keeping it healthy and vibrant.
Selfishly, these are the only wines that we want to drink and stock. We love them. They are delicious. We find value and meaning in them beyond that warm feeling you get after a glass or two. These growers, their stories and their craft impassions our shop and purpose.
SHOPKEEPERS
WE ARE
Our shop is not driven, curated, or cared for by an algorithm or a corporate bottom line...our shop reflects our taste, passions, experiences and curiosities.
We love small independent shops — they are the lifeblood of towns, villages, and cities all over the world; and we have retail and hospitality in our blood — with family connections to a D.C. pharmacy and luncheonette (Michael's grandfather, Leon, pictured), Brooklyn wine shop, and seaside restaurants.
We believe “little drops of water / make the mighty ocean,” so whether it's buying a bottle of small grower wine, or supporting your local bakery or skate shop, these small but important decisions add up to have an outsized impact over time.
Cheers, and welcome.
