Grand Curoulet is believed to be where the first vines of Arbois were ever planted — a north-facing hill above the town on grey and multi-colored Triassic marls, the oldest soils in the Jura — and this is the most accomplished single-site wine in the Domaine du Pélican portfolio, a non-oxidative Savagnin of extraordinary precision, mineral depth, and quiet intensity that opens slowly and rewards patience. "Ouillé" means the barrels are topped up throughout aging — no oxidative influence, no vin jaune character — just Savagnin in its purest, most linear form: electric acidity, fine grip from an overnight skin maceration on one-third of the fruit,  Biodynamically farmed, fermented in foudres and barrels, aged ten months in 500-liter neutral oak, no new wood, no shortcuts.
