The 2023 Phelan Farm Pinot Noir is own-rooted, regeneratively and biodynamically farmed from four coastal plots in Cambria, SLO Coast — 100% whole cluster, spontaneous fermentation in open-top tanks, one year in neutral barrel, no fining, no filtration, zero sulfur added at any point in the process. Rajat Parr — sommelier, author, and winemaker behind Domaine de la Côte, Sandhi, and Evening Land — gave up the nomadic life of a wine world citizen in 2020 to put his hands in the dirt at a farm a stone's throw from the Pacific, citing Thierry Allemand, Jean-Louis Chave, and Stéphane Tissot as his north stars. The Phelan family homestead dates to 1851. The vines went in 2007. This is what happened when those two worlds found each other.
