2023 Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot Arbois Pinot Noir Sous La Tour

Precise, silky, and more Burgundian than anything the Jura has any right to produce — fine tannins, lifted acidity, a cool mineral spine, and a long finish of red cherry and forest floor that lingers with quiet authority. The 2023 Tissot "Sous La Tour" is Demeter-certified biodynamic Pinot Noir from a single south-facing parcel directly below the medieval watchtower of Montigny-lès-Arsures on blue Liassic marl — the oldest and most mineral-rich soils in the estate, harvested by hand, spontaneous fermentation, 12 months in old Burgundian barrels, no fining, no filtration, minimal sulfur. Stéphane Tissot began making single-parcel wines in 1997 because he believed the Jura's geological diversity demanded it — "Sous La Tour" was among the first, and remains the most consistently compelling red in the portfolio. The tower is still standing. So is the argument.
