2022 Celler Joan d'Anguera Altaroses

The 2022 Celler Joan d'Anguera "Altaroses" is Demeter-certified biodynamic 100% Garnacha from 11 hectares of north-facing slopes on chalk and limestone in Darmós, southern Catalonia — fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts, macerated three weeks on skins, 15 months in old French barrique, no filtration, minimal sulfur. Josep and Joan d'Anguera are the seventh generation of their family in Darmós, and the very first to get kicked out of the Montsant appellation — booted for making wines that were too light and elegant when the DO wanted concentration and power, a distinction they wear as a badge of honor. Two centuries of the same family, the same village, and a new generation that finally decided to listen to the land instead of the market.
