Warmed roses, raspberry, sweet spice, wild herbs, and a savory, earthy finish with fine-grained tannins. 100% Nebbiolo from the Cavanna cru, a west-facing amphitheater tucked just below the tower of Barbaresco overlooking the Tanaro River. Aged in large Slavonian oak casks averaging 25 years old. Giovanni Giordano founded this estate in the 1930s when Barbaresco was virtually unknown; his son Luigi bottled the first wine under his own name in 1958 — nearly unheard of for an independent grower before the appellation even existed. Today Luigi, his daughter Laura, and grandson Matteo run it together. They own the heart of Cavanna and are the only producer to bottle it as a single vineyard — neighbors include Gaja. Pair with braised meat, truffle pasta, or aged cheese.
