The Keller family has been making wines in the Rheinhessen for 9 generations, since 1789. Klaus-Peter Keller and his wife, Julia, took over the day-to-day direction of Weingut Keller in 2001.
Mystery, lore and cult status pretty much sum up Keller wines.
From a single plot where Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Chardonnay were planted together — "muscheligen kalk" translates to "shelly lime." Pour it high and watch the milky haze of CO2 unfurl - cracked peach pit, lemon curd, broken chalk. Delicious.
