Amaro cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, forest floor, and a salty Pacific brine on the finish — classic old-school California Pinot with a coastal mineral twist. A blend of five vineyards across Avila Beach, Edna Valley, and the northern SLO Coast AVA. Fermented in small 1.5-ton boxes with native yeast, 10-20% whole cluster, pressed in a wooden basket press, aged 7 months in old French oak. Unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulfur. Four of the five vineyards are certified biodynamic, farmed by their own team; the fifth is organic. Estimated 500-1,000 cases produced. Mikey and Gina Giugni started Scar of the Sea in 2012 — they helped get the SLO Coast AVA officially recognized, California's newest coastal appellation. They live, farm, and make wine within sight of the ocean. Small production, site-driven, hands-on from dirt to bottle.
