Around 1,500 cases for the US, depending on the vintage. Fresh and lively on entry — dark cherry, raspberry, crushed stone, a whisper of violet — with filigree tannins, a silver thread of acidity, and a sprinkling of black pepper on the finish that keeps you studying the glass. The 2024 Foillard Morgon "Côte du Py" is organically farmed 100% Gamay from 60-plus-year-old vines on the steep south-facing granite and schist slopes of the Côte du Py — Morgon's most celebrated site — whole cluster fermented 3–4 weeks, aged 6–9 months in old oak barrels, no chaptalization, no fining, no filtration, minimal sulfur. Jean Foillard was one of the original Gang of Four — alongside Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Guy Breton — the Kermit Lynch-championed vignerons who walked away from commercial Beaujolais in the 1980s and followed Jules Chauvet back to old vines, late harvests, and zero shortcuts.
