Pear, lemon, chalky mineral, lemon blossom, and a long, complex finish — bright, succulent, and full-bodied with a fine spine of acidity running through the center. Riper and broader-shouldered than Chartron's signature Puligny style, with Chassagne's clay soils adding weight and generosity. 100% Chardonnay from old vines near Morgeot, fermented and aged in French oak with about 30% new. Organic practices since 2004, not certified by choice. Estimated 300-600 cases produced. Five generations in Puligny-Montrachet since 1859. Now run by Jean-Michel and his sister Anne-Laure. A Puligny house making Chassagne — and the terroir difference is right there in the glass.
