This is moving into Prädikatswein territory, Ellergrub is a classic example from ungrafted 100 year-old vines, the angular terraces jutting out in different directions, the land is STEEP. It’s hard to believe vines grow in such a dramatic landscape and secondly that people harvest them by hand! The nose is a bouquet of fine exotic fruits, honey, fresh pineapple, William pear, acacia, mirabelle, plum, and cinnamon. The wine coats the palate with some juicy and slightly honeyed fruits yet leaves a fresh and nicely focused and refreshing long finish. Wines such as this are the worlds longest lasting and this is no exception - it will last decades!
