2023 Lady Of The Sunshine Mountain Meadow Pinot Noir

Red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, earthy spice, and a salty coastal minerality — light-bodied, fragrant, and hearty all at once. 100% Pinot Noir (clone 667) from a 4-acre meadow in the mountains above Cayucos, 1,500 feet elevation but only 4 miles from the Pacific. Head-trained, dry-farmed, certified biodynamic. 75% whole cluster, native yeast, pressed in a wooden basket press, aged 17 months in old French oak. Racked for the first time to bottle — unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulfur. 168 cases produced. This is the first release of this wine. Gina Giugni founded Lady of the Sunshine in 2017 — she and her husband Mikey (yes, the same Mikey behind Scar of the Sea) assumed a 10-year lease on this vineyard in 2023. Same family, two labels, same mountain vineyard appearing in both projects. Gina calls it "a whimsical meadow plot" — the wine drinks like that description sounds.
