Wet earth, ripe dark berry, dried flowers, lavender, garrigue, and a thread of iron-rich minerality from the famous galets roulés of La Crau — so many spicy and savory nuances on a concentrated but almost perfectly proportioned palate, with velvety tannins, a stony saltiness, and a finish of extraordinary length and focus. The 2023 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" is organically farmed 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault from 60-plus-year-old vines on the La Crau plateau — Châteauneuf's most celebrated terroir, a sea of smooth ancient river stones that absorb daytime heat and radiate it back through the night, 60–70% destemmed, aged in large foudres, no new oak. The Brunier family has farmed this ground since Hippolyte Brunier planted the first vines in 1898 — four generations of the same family, the same plateau, the same conviction that La Crau is one of the great terroirs of France.
