400 cases made. Withered roses, ripe black cherry, licorice, aromatic herbs, and a whisper of tobacco — supple and Pinot-esque in texture, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and the kind of transparency that makes Nebbiolo from this corner of Treiso feel more like Burgundy than Barolo. The 2022 Rosanna Sandri "Botero" is organically farmed Nebbiolo from 12-year-old vines at 280 meters in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in the Barbaresco zone — yields limited to 1kg per vine, 15-day fermentation in concrete, 40-45 days submerged cap maceration, six months in large oak botti. No chemicals, no tractors, no temperature control — the family has worked this way since Rosanna's parents Mario and Teresina planted the first vines in 1950. Her sons Mauro and Roberto carry it forward now, the enological school education folded quietly into a lifetime of watching their mother work the ground. Small is the whole point.
