Part of the Château Thivin building dates back to 1383, and since 1877 the Geoffray family has proudly upheld its legacy, with Claude-Edouard and his wife Sonia now representing the sixth generation. Named in honour of that founding ancestor, Cuvée Zaccharie is one of Beaujolais' unsung greats — an old-vine bottling from Thivin's two finest vineyards, La Chapelle and Godefroy, selected after élevage, and among the most structured expressions of Beaujolais.
Grown on the volcanic diorite soils of Mont Brouilly, hand-harvested, and aged for ten months in French oak, beautifully integrated oak gives this concentrated Côte de Brouilly an extra level of intensity and structure, alongside a wonderful crème de cassis and ripe forest berry character, with a very long, compact finish that needs some time to fully open up, the 2022 is serious Beaujolais by any measure.
Outstanding with beef fillet with morel sauce, game, or aged Beaufort.
