Meyer lemon, white peach, crushed oyster shell, toasted brioche, and an intensely chalky, saline finish that just keeps going. 100% Chardonnay from old vines planted between 1927 and 1986 in the Grand Cru villages of Avize and Oger — pure chalk, Côte des Blancs at its most electric. Native yeast fermented in old oak barrels, nine months élevage, then 48 months aging on lees before disgorgement. Unfined, unfiltered. Organically farmed. Estimated 200-400 cases produced. "Hors Série" means "off the map" — Alexandre Chartogne's home is in Merfy on the Massif de Saint-Thierry, and this cuvée is his deliberate leap into the legendary terroirs of the Côte des Blancs. The family has been in Merfy since the 15th century; Alexandre decided that wasn't enough. One of the most terroir-obsessed growers in all of Champagne working Grand Cru chalk with old vines and zero compromise.
