2024 Envinate Migan Tinto

2024 Envinate Migan Tinto

$49.00

Around 500 cases made, depending on the vintage. Crunchy red fruit, volcanic spice, a thread of smoke and saline minerality, and fine-grained tannins with an energy and precision that no wine from this latitude has any right to possess — 2024 brought no heat waves, giving the tannins better ripeness and the wine more clarity than the concentrated 2023. The 2024 Envínate "Migan" Tinto is organically farmed 100% Listán Negro from three parcels of 100-year-old ungrafted vines on volcanic sand, clay, and basalt between 400 and 600 meters in La Orotava, Tenerife — foot-trodden, partial whole cluster, fermented in concrete, twelve months in neutral French oak, minimal sulfur. Envínate is four friends who met studying enology in Alicante in 2005 and set out to prove that Spain's most overlooked Atlantic corners — Tenerife, Ribeira Sacra — could produce wines as compelling as anywhere in the world. "Migan" was the old name for the town of La Perdoma, where all three vineyards sit. The name predates the wine. The vines predate the name.
