I'm not sure if we could top that description by Eric because those words perfeclty encapsulate the Matthiason wines in a quick elevator pitch.
The Matthiasson family is sincerely dedicated to producing pure, expressive California wine without all the makeup and lifestyle propaganda that we find so fatiguing.
This isn't old world Cab because it is made in the New World, so there is for sure a stamp of cali sun in the glass but there are guardrails here. No overblown oak or intoxicating ripeness. Full bodied, harmonious, and lively.
