Classic Bordeaux from an "off" vintage, though it over performs. Bursting with blackcurrent, creme de cassis, graphite and a hint of incense. Nearly 10 year after harvest this is starting to soften but could still use a decant if enjoying now. Pair with a thick steak and indulge yourself.
Pontet Canet is one of the most in demand 5th Growth producers in Pauillac. While this estate needs no introduction to savvy collectors, it is always good to revisit.
Pontet Canet was purchased by Guy Terreson of Chateau Lafon Rochet in 1975, and has been long beloved by Bordeaux enthusiasts. Pontet Canet is famous for being neighbors with Mouton Rothschild.
Since 2010, all farming is biodynamic. (They were the first major Bordeaux wine producer to get certified in biodynamics via Agence Bio (AB) organic certification!) In total, Pontet Canet is 81 hectares planted to roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon with the rest being Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
