The 2024 Gut Oggau Winifred is a Demeter-certified biodynamic rosé from Burgenland, Austria — no sulfur added, unfiltered — with wild strawberry, pomegranate, red currant, and a salty, stony mineral finish that keeps you coming back. Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe brought biodynamic farming to the small lakeside town of Oggau in 2007 when they restored an abandoned 17th century winery near Lake Neusiedlersee — a husband and wife team farming limestone and gravel soils with deep respect for the land, making wines that are pure expressions of one of Austria's most distinctive terroirs, which is exactly the kind of story we love. Fun fact: every wine in the Gut Oggau range is named after a fictional family member and comes with a hand-drawn portrait on the label — Winifred is the youngest of the family, described as vivacious and charming, and this wine delivers on every count.
