Emerging from a single, contiguous 10-hectare plot in Bray, Mâcon — one of the appellation's coolest sites at 350 metres altitude — this Pinot Noir is the work of Theo Dancer, a winemaker whose curiosity and respect for tradition are inseparable. The 2024 vintage was nothing short of gruelling: relentless spring rainfall and aggressive downy mildew devastated yields, yet what remained at harvest was, by Dancer's own account, remarkably pure and concentrated.
In the glass, expect a wine that leans toward the classic, elegant end of the Burgundian spectrum — fresh red fruit, a lifted floral character, and a cool mineral edge drawn from the plot's distinctive marl and red limestone soils. The approach in the cellar is minimal and considered: spontaneous fermentation, gentle pressing, 12 months in older oak, and bottling without filtration or fining. Nothing is forced, and it shows.
This is Burgundy with something to say — vibrant, precise, and quietly serious.
Serve alongside roasted duck breast with cherry jus, or a classic coq au vin. Its bright acidity and fine tannin structure also make it a natural match for earthy mushroom risotto or a simple roast chicken with herbs.
