Luís Pato is a legend in Portuguese wine — his father João was the first producer to bottle wine in Bairrada after its demarcation, and Luís took that pioneer spirit even further, producing Portugal's first-ever Vinhas Velhas wine and eventually leaving the DOC by choice to make wine on his own terms. This 50/50 blend of two iconic Portuguese grapes delivers dark cherry, plum, and bitter chocolate with a hint of smoke, bright acidity, and fine tannins from 60 hectares of sandy and clay-limestone soils. Fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit front and center, it drinks like the sweet spot between a Beaujolais Villages and a Langhe Rosso. Throw a chill on it and pair with grilled sausages, roast lamb, or anything coming off your grill.
