Tiny production, about 150-200 cases annually. Bright red cherry, cranberry, violets, and a whisper of earth — the 2023 Domaine du Comte Armand "Le Polent" is a certified organic and biodynamic Pinot Noir from the hills of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, light on its feet, vibrant in acidity, and made with the same obsessive care as the domaine's famous Clos des Épeneaux: no fining, no filtration, native yeast fermentation timed to the lunar calendar, and as little intervention as the vintage allows. Domaine du Comte Armand has been in the same family since 1826 — a history so intertwined with Burgundy's greatest estates that the Marey-Monge family, who originally owned the Clos des Épeneaux, also helped found Domaine de la Romanée-Conti — and today winemaker Paul Zinetti upholds a tradition of biodynamic farming certified by Ecocert and a winemaking philosophy built around precision, restraint, and terroir. Fun fact: Pascal Marchand, who later went on to mentor Daniel Twardowski of Mosel Pinot Noir fame, converted this domaine to biodynamics back in 1984 — making Comte Armand one of Burgundy's earliest adopters. Serve slightly cool with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled salmon, or as a weeknight bottle from one of Burgundy's most storied addresses.
