A fifth-generation domaine rooted in Morey-Saint-Denis, Frédéric Magnien's Bourgogne Rouge punches well above its appellation designation. Fruit is drawn from a selection of vineyards across the Hautes-Côtes and Côte de Nuits, hand-harvested and fermented on indigenous yeasts before ageing in a combination of clay amphora, clay eggs, and older French oak — unfined and unfiltered. The result is a Bourgogne that feels anything but basic. Full-flavoured and delicately perfumed, with aromas of black cherries, raspberries, and earth, it offers remarkable precision and purity for the price. An ideal introduction to one of Burgundy's most conscientious producers.
Perfect with roast chicken, mushroom risotto, or charcuterie.
