Founded by Oregon pioneer Russ Rainey in 1986, Evesham Wood is one of the Willamette Valley's most important estates — a certified organic operation whose Le Puits Sec vineyard stands among the oldest in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Now stewarded by winemaker Erin Nuccio, the legacy continues with quiet conviction and zero compromise.
The 2022 Le Puits Sec is a breathtaking expression of place. Drawing predominantly from the estate's original 1986 plantings, the wine opens with smoky rose petals, dried violets, wild mint, and an entrancing saline quality that echoes the cooling Pacific winds that define this AVA. On the palate, vibrant cranberry, blood orange, and spiced wild strawberry unfold with extraordinary delicacy and energy. Non-irrigated vines, organic farming, and a cool vintage conspire to produce something genuinely thrilling — Burgundian in spirit, unmistakably Oregonian in soul.
Harmonious now, it will reward patience generously.
Ideally suited to pan-seared salmon with a pinot reduction, lamb chops with fresh herbs, or a wild mushroom tart. Its saline lift and red fruit brightness make it equally compelling alongside charcuterie and aged Comté.
