Best Wine (Or Beer) To Pair With Lobster

We were on vacation recently but of course it was also mixed with "work". I define work here somewhat loosely as anything I eat and drink. Kidding aside, these experiences living outside the confines of our four walls are essential. People ask us at the shop all the time what our favorite wine is and our response? It depends.
Context matters when it comes to food, wine, music... We experience things differently in winter than we do in summer, sitting in an apartment or on a seaside terrace. Our company also influences our taste, are you with old friends? Parents? Curmudgeons? All of these factors and more influence our preferences which are dynamic and changing.
When it comes to food and wine pairing, we like to say what grows together often goes together.
Circling back to our recent Maine excursions, 10/10 times on my plate were the fruits of the sea, especially lobster. While there are many iterations of lobster that grace our tables, I focused on the simplest and purest form of the crustacean: steamed, fresh Maine lobster with a side of warm, melted butter. Ideally you are enjoying this natural thing from the cool coastal waters near a body of water. It just amplifies the experience, deliciousness, and your taste buds.
When it comes to what wine to serve with lobster, your options are unlimited. You can get away with a crispy white to counterbalance the richness or amplify it with a more generous and textural white wine. I know this may sound heretical, but a light chillable red with minimal tannins and low ABV can be dynamite. Below are three wines, and a beer that we would LOVE to pair with a fresh, steamed Maine Lobstah! -Michael
