Ripe and voluminous — red currant, plum, dark berry, a touch of earth and spice, with a round, generous mid-palate and a smooth finish that is more immediately welcoming than either Guettes or La Dominode. Les Peuillets sits at the base of the hillside on moderately deep soil of small pebbles in red clay — a lower, richer site where the vines are less stressed and the wine opens earlier, showing the fruitier, more accessible side of Savigny premier cru. Worth noting: Pavelot only added this parcel in 2021, taking it in from Domaine Écard — young in the portfolio, old in the ground. Organically farmed, native yeast, 12 months in barrel.
