Frantz Saumon, one time lumberjack, now a natural wine icon makes pure, expressive, iterations of Chenin, Malbec, and Gamay.
This here is a new one for us and as soon as we dipped our nose into this Gamay, we could sense the deft touch of Frantz. For us, well made natural Gamay from the Loire is distinctly different than Beaujolais. How? It's a bit less about red berry fruit and a bit darker, greener, spicier and earthier. Jokingly, we like to say that our favorite Loire Valley Gamay's taste like wet, mossy cobblestone. It's absurd, we know, but each of us brings our own unique and idiosyncratic senses to each and every glass.
