2022 I Custodi Rosso "Pistus"

I Custodi is an archetypal example of Mt. Etna Rosso. Mineral, red fruited, and fragrant. The most elegant versions like this one pop out of the glass with a similar expression to a red Burgundy or Cru Beaujolais though less fruity than the latter. 

The winery, I Custodi, refers to themselves as the "keepers" or the "guardians" of Mt. Etna's vineyards. Their mission is to preserve the land and traditions of the region as well as to respect the people. The cellarmaster is Salvio Foti — a legend in the area and a gifted winemaker who "lets the wine make itself."
