13th generations of Girardin's have farmed here in Burgundy. I mean how beautiful that generational transition?! Imagine how difficult it must be to successfully manage a family business for that long. I feel that there must be some inner, primal desire for family wineries like this to persevere, thrive, and survive not matter the obstacles.
The Bourgogne Rouge is a wonderful wine for a sub $30 Burgundy. Thanks to a pre-ferment cold soak and some whole cluster fermentation, you will find in this wine a beautifully captured red fruited freshness in the wine. We think there is no better pairing than a cool glass of red Burgundy and a perfected sautéed bone-in pork chop.
