Jochen Beurer is a former European BMX Champion who makes wines of intense energy, vibrancy and lift in Swabia, outside of Stuttgart in Württemberg. Though his wines have achieved an almost cult-like status in Germany, Jochen is more interested in what happens outside the cellar and within his vineyards: bees, the vegetation and animals surrounding the vineyards, soil and the vines themselves.
His vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic, which reflects the staggering amount of thought Jochen puts into seeing his vines and wines as a complex integration of systems that defy criteria and rules that meld together to create a "single whole." His wines are startling in their depth, precision, transparency and sense of place.
Wiess Trocken is a blend of grapes, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, and Muscaris and a bunch of other stuff that is not Riesling. This is an aromatic white; a spring garden sorta wine. Fresh greens and some citrus and soul.
