Benchmark for a reason, Felsina is an historic estate that we have a TON of respoect for. During the 1980's and 90's when may around the globe were ditching time honored approaches in the vineyard and cellar to craft big, rich, oaky international wines that had more to do with a Wall Street steakhouse wine list than the place from which they came. Felsina stood strong and remained loyal to local traditions by producing a wine that tasted and felt Tuscan and not global. What are we if we whitewash all of our singular qualities just to be like everyone else? BORING.
Black fruited, spicy, and broad shouldered but guard railed by a nice bolt of acid and tannin.
